IPL therapy is an FDA-cleared, patented technology providing dramatic results for a variety of conditions including, sun damaged skin, age spots, Rosacea, facial telangiectasias and cherry red birthmarks.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) skin treatments using the photo rejuvenation process represent a breakthrough in age-defying skin care. The technique called FotoFacial treats sun damage skin non-invasively and turns back the effects of aging with low risk of complications, little or no discomfort, and no down time.

IPL stimulates new collagen to form in the skin thereby reducing fine lines, minimizing pore size and acne scars, and increasing skin elasticity.

Intense pulsed light also diminishes flushing or redness of the face associated with rosacea, reduces brown spots, erases broken capillaries, and smooths roughly textured skin.

Any skin can be treated with IPL including skin on the face, neck, chest, back, hands, arms, and legs. The actual procedure time varies depending on the size of the area treated. For example, IPL therapy of the full face may take 40 minutes.

Rosacea (pronounced roh-ZAY-sha) is a chronic disease that affects the skin and sometimes the eyes. The disorder is characterized by redness, pimples, and, in advanced stages, thickened skin. Rosacea affects mainly

With FotoFacial treatments the embarrassing redness and flushing of rosacea can be greatly reduced and sun damaged, aging skin can be dramatically improved.

Another use of IPL is Photodynamic therapy which has been used to successfully to treat Actinic Keratosis as well as severely sun damaged skin.

Actinic keratosis is a scaly or crusty skin lesion. It most often appears on the bald scalp, face, ears, lips, backs of the hands and any other areas of the body frequently exposed to the sun.

The presence of actinic keratosis indicates sustained and severe sun damage that could develop into any kind of skin cancer – not just squamous cell carcinoma.

Photodynamic Therapy is the use of aminolevulinic acid (ALA) or LEVULON in conjunction with IPL therapy. ALA is applied to the face or hands one hour before IPL treatment. Intense Pulse Light therapy is then performed. Patients do not require any topical anesthesia. Post procedure wound care consisted of sun protection and moisturizer.

The results of multiple clinical studies have shown the efficacy, safety and cosmetic benefit of ALA-IPL .With a single treatment 68% of actinic keratosis disappeared and there was a 55% improvement in spider veins, a 48% improvement in dark pigment irregularities, a 25% improvement in coarseness of skin texture. Side effects were minimal including mild redness, swelling for 3-5 days.
