Dr. Frank G. Fort
Frank G. Fort, MD, FACS is the Medical Director of the Capital Region Vein and Esthetic Laser Centre in Niskayuna, New York. The Capital Region Vein Centre, founded in 1995, is the premier vein center in northeastern New York. Dr. Fort has specialized in Venous and Lymphatic Medicine for over 20 years treating thousands of patients.
He is board-certified by both the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine and the American Board of Surgery. Additionally Dr. Fort is one of only four physician vein specialists in New York State to have earned the Registered Phlebology Sonographer (RPhS) certification. The RPhS credentialing demonstrates broad knowledge and skill in the use of ultrasound in patients with varicose and spider veins as well as blood clots of the legs.
He was the first physician in New York State to successfully perform a vein ablation procedure (now known as Venefit™ Endovenous Targeted Therapy) on March 28, 2000 at Bellevue Woman’s Hospital. The vein ablation procedures have replaced the old, surgical ligation and stripping. As a result of his experience with vein ablation procedures, Dr. Fort has continued incorporating new innovations into his practice such as ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy for the treatment of large recurrent varicose veins, vaginal varicose veins, and incompetent perforator veins in patients with vein ulcer disease.
Dr. Fort has authored the chapters for the yearly edition of the medical textbook: Ferri’s Clinical Advisor on Varicose Veins, Chronic Venous Insufficiency, Superficial Venous Thrombophlebitis, Upper Extremity Vein Thrombosis, Venous Ulcers and Lymphedema since 2011. Dr. Fort has shared his expertise in chronic venous disease throughout the Capital Region by giving numerous lectures and presentations to other health care professionals (physicians, nurses, PA’s, and medical students) on topics related to vein disease.
Dr. Fort belongs to the following national and international professional organizations:
- Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS)
